THE BUSINESS MEETING

THE BUSINESS MEETING

Larry Paulausky, chapter 18 vice chair, opened the meeting (held at WXPN/World Cafe Live). There was no business discussed. Thanks was made to Donald Train of Train's Towers for sponsoring the pizza and sandwiches which were provided by Allegro Pizza of University City.

THE PRESENTATION

The presenter for the September meeting was Donald Train of Train's Towers. Train's presentation covered the safety procedures relative to the new TIA/EIA 222-G  Standard which incorporates sweeping changes to how the tower industry operates. A strong focus of the presentation dealt with Wireless Estimator, a website operated by a former newspaperman that contains many topics dealing with tower construction and the like.

Topics within the presentation dealt with:

*Elements of construction

*Windspeed and its relation to tower construction

*FAA & FCC and how they relate to the lighting and painting situation

*Grounding

*Building permits

*Various case studies

*Safety plan

Donald Train brought in Al DiImperio of the Occupational and Safety Hazards Administration (OSHA). His presentation dealt with various aspects of the federal agency and its relation to the broadcast industry, especially a primer on how to stay clean when dealing with OSHA when construction of your tower is in effect and  how to keep your sites within OSHA guidelines.
